Quick Worsted Weight Hat Pattern
I have been making some quick worsted weight hats as color samples this week. I love how they are turning out and thought I would share the recipe with you. They would be great for the quick gift that we all end up looking for at some point or that gratification project that can be needed after a large knit is finally done.
The finished hat does not take the whole skein so I will make some faded style hats when I have enough yarn to do that and share them a a later time.
Pattern / Recipe below Pic
Needle used US #8 / 5mm circular or dpn
Cast on 84 st and knit one row
K2 P2 for 14 rows
K for 7 rows
P one row
repeat k 7 rows - P 1 row 4 times ( you should have 4 P rows )
K 4 rows ( this is when if you would like a deeper hat you can add a few rows)
in row 5 start to decrease .
I used the 5-4-3-2 method Decrease in every 5th stitch by knit 2 together for a row then knit a row. Decrease in every 4th stitch then knit a row and so on. Some times the decrease in every second stitch row will be repeated to have less stitches to draw together at the end .When I am down to 12 - 15 stitches I cut a long tail and use a tapestry needle to pick up the remaining stitches and pull tight.
